Boys Adviser
Mr K Barrett is the Student Adviser specifically available to help boys. He is located in the Science Staffroom and is only too happy to have a chat should you need one. No problem is too big or small, and if he can't help, he should be able to find someone who can. Mr Barrett is also involved in the implementation and development of larger school welfare programs aimed at helping boys. If you have any ideas on how things could be improved for boys, let him know - you may have the idea that he has been looking for.

School Counsellors
Each school in NSW has the services of a School Counsellor, whose responsibilities include: individual and group counselling with students, parents and staff; psychometric assessment of students and reporting to parents and staff, special education assessment and placement; and; consultancy services to staff and parents. They may also become involved in other aspects of school life depending on student needs and those of the school. School counsellors are psychologists with teaching experience, and have contacts with a wide range of community services.
The School Counsellors at EMTHS are Mr Neil Porter, and Mr Andrew Wright whose office is in the school library. Either Mr Porter or Mr Wright is at school every day - on Mondays Tuesdays and Wednesday mornings, Mr Porter is school counsellor, and on Thursday afternoons and all day Fridays, Mr Wright is school counsellor. If you need to speak with someone confidentially about any issues, the school counsellors are available. If they are unable to help directly, they can help you get in touch with someone outside the school who can help. You can make an appointment to see Mr Porter or Mr Wright by calling in to their office in the Library before school, at recess or at lunch, or leaving a message with Mrs Shand, Mrs McDonnel or Ms Gollan.
In almost all cases, discussions with he school counsellors are confidential - that means that the counsellor will not discuss what you say with anyone else. In some rare cases, they may have to pass on information to someone else - they will always discuss this with you when you first see them.
